The agent of Tottenham Hotspur defender Vlad Chiriches has stamped on speculation that his client could be heading to join Serie A side Fiorentina this summer.

Spurs bought the Romanian centre-back from Steaua Bucharest last year, as part of a spending spree launched with the proceeds raised from selling Gareth Bale to Real Madrid.

With Mauricio Pochettino now appointed as manager at Tottenham, there has been talk of a player exodus and Chiriches has been linked with the exit door.

However, agent Pietro Chiodi, attempting to put departure talk to bed, told Sky Italia: "I deny that there is currently a deal with Fiorentina or any other clubs for my client."

A key man for Romania at international level, the 24-year-old has won 23 caps for his country to date.
