Luke Shaw's switch to Southampton from Manchester United is still on the table despite talks between both parties coming to a halt on Friday.

The English champions have lodged a £27m bid for the England left-back and remain confident of getting their man, according to the BBC, even though talks on Friday broke down.

Southampton have just sold 32-year-old striker Rickie Lambert to Liverpool for a fee of £4m plus add-ons and are determined they will not part with another of their talents before a new manager has been appointed; Mauricio Pochettino recently departed for Tottenham.

The Saints are also clear that they have no financial need to sell their best players, something which looks set to guarantee top dollar for Shaw.
