James Milner has hit back at his critics who feel that he only adds defensive value to the England team when he plays.

Roy Hodgson trusts the Manchester City midfielder and is set to play him in England’s final warm-up against Ecuador on Wednesday.

Milner has had his share of criticism for his perceived lack of creativity, but he feels that most of it is unwarranted as he has scored and created his fair share of goals in the Premier League.

Milner considers his defensive duties as part of the package that he brings to the table, but believes that shouldn’t be perceived as a lack of creativity.

Milner scored twice and assisted 15 goals for his team-mates in 44 appearances for Manchester City this season.
