Southampton defender Jos Hooiveld believes that whoever takes over at St, Mary's this summer could have an extremely difficult challenge on their hands due to the number of players who might leave the club.

The Saints are searching for a new manager after Mauricio Pochettino left the club to take over at Tottenham Hotspur.

Striker Rickie Lambert has already followed him out of the exit door, joining Liverpool, while the Reds also want Adam Lallana.

Young left-back Luke Shaw is coveted by Manchester United and centre-back Dejan Lovren has several suitors.

Other Southampton players have also been linked with leaving and Hooiveld has been paying close attention to the transfer talk.

"Maybe there are still players who will leave Southampton", he told Voetbal International.

"According to the British newspapers this summer, we are going to lose a lot of our players.

"If you believe what they write, we could be lucky if we are still left with eleven."

The 31-year-old is concerned about what budget a new manager might receive too.

"The last two seasons the team have done very well in the league. The question is what budget is available to enhance the squad, because a few guys left, like Rickie Lambert, and we need good replacements."
