French national team manager Didier Deschamps has confirmed that Franck Ribery has been ruled out of the World Cup due to a back injury.

The Bayern Munich winger is an experienced member of the French national squad but Les Bleus will go into the World Cup without the 31-year-old.

Ribery has faced injury troubles this season at Bayern Munich and had to undergo surgery in February for a burst blood vessel in his buttocks.

Deschamps has also confirmed that Lyon’s Clement Grenier will miss the tournament with an abductor injury.
