Hellas Verona sporting director Sean Sogliano believes that the Serie A side may end up losing winger Juan Iturbe this summer, despite having just purchased him on a permanent basis.

Iturbe spent the last campaign on loan at Verona from Portuguese giants FC Porto and impressed in Serie A, causing the Italian side to activate their purchase option included in the deal, buying the 20-year-old for €15m last month.

But with Iturbe having attracted attention from Liverpool, Barcelona and even newly-crowned European champions Real Madrid, Sogliano cannot make any promises over the Argentine staying.

"We all know that Iturbe is a special player. We cannot hide the fact he is at the centre of important negotiations. He is aware of what the situation is, there are possibilities that he will join a big club", the sporting director told the club's site.

"Even though all the focus is on him, he is calm and aware that he could have the opportunity of his life. He is well aware Verona made an unimaginable effort to buy him. That is why today he trusts us. He knows that if an offer that we consider fair arrives then he will leave", he continued.

"However, as our president said, if that offer doesn't arrive then he will remain with us next season and we will all be delighted. Having said that, it is more likely to see him leave than see him wear the Verona colours next season. It's right to state this rather than to deceive our fans and myself."

Iturbe chipped in with eight goals in 33 Serie A games for Verona over the course of the campaign, producing performance after performance which delighted Sogliano.

"It has been wonderful to see him grow as a player", he said.
