Former West Ham midfielder Joe Cole is heading to Aston Villa.

Cole was released by the Hammers at the end of this season having failed to carve out a regular spot in Sam Allardyce's side and being considered surplus to requirements at Upton Park.

However, the ex-England international is poised to remain in the Premier League with Aston Villa.

Cole is undergoing a medical with Villa this evening, according to BBC Radio 5 live, before putting pen to paper on a deal to move to Villa Park.
