Manchester United right-back Rafael believes that a good pre-season is vital for the players, as they try to attain full fitness before the season starts in August.

Manchester United will fly to the United States of America next month for their pre-season tour.

The Red Devils will play the likes of Roma, Inter Milan and Real Madrid and Rafael believes it will be an enjoyable experience as well as a stern test for the team.

"It will be fantastic to play against such historic teams during our tour. Everyone will want to play in those matches," the 23-year-old told the club’s official site.

The Brazilian feels that a good pre-season is important for the players as it allows them to condition their body for the rigours of the season ahead.

"Pre-season is so important. It means everything to your season – if it goes well and you have a good pre-season it can mean you are set up for the rest of the season with your fitness.”

Manchester United will kick-off their tour of the US next month with a game against Los Angeles Galaxy on 23rd July at the Rose Bowl Stadium, Pasadena.
