Wayne Rooney feels the present youthful England squad is the best he has been involved with since his international debut in 2003.

Three Lions manager Roy Hodgson selected a group of youngsters, which include the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Raheem Sterling, Ross Barkley and Luke Shaw among others, for his World Cup squad.

And Rooney, who is excited to be part of the squad, believes England will fare well at the showpiece event in Brazil.

The Manchester United striker further insisted that he is of the opinion that the future of English football “looks bright” due to the involvement of the younger players.

"I think it is exciting," he told the FIFA’s official site.
