Feyenoord are hoping to involve Manchester United in the auction for Lazio target Stefan de Vrij.

Lazio have been on the trail of the Dutch defender for some time and made a €5.5m bid last month, a figure which did not impress the Rotterdam side.

And Feyenoord want to wait until the end of the World Cup to decide on the future of the Dutch international.

De Vrij is a personal favourite of Dutch national team manager Louis van Gaal and the former Barcelona manager is keen to take the young defender to England, once he takes over as the new manager at Manchester United next month.

As a result Feyenoord are waiting for the Red Devils to challenge Lazio for the signing of the 22-year-old so that they can extract the maximum amount possible from his sale, according to Tuttosport.
