Benfica goalkeeper Jan Oblak’s agent has confirmed that Real Madrid have made initial contact to enquire about his client's availability this summer.

The Slovenian shot-stopper’s performances for the Portuguese outfit last season raised a few eyebrows across Europe. He just conceded eight goals and kept 21 clean sheets in 27 appearances for the club.

The 21-year-old’s agent, Miha Mlakar, has confirmed that Real Madrid have made initial contact about the shot-stopper’s availability this summer.

“There has been initial contact from Real Madrid,” Mlakar told AS.

Diego Lopez has ousted Iker Casillas as the first choice goalkeeper at Real Madrid and the latter only made two league appearances last season.

Los Blancos are considering Oblak as a long-term replacement for Casillas, whose contract expires in 2017.

The Slovenian has a contract with Benfica until 2018 and the Eagles are not ready to sell him without a fight.

Oblak has a buyout clause of €20m and it remains to be seen whether Real Madrid are prepared to pay that amount for a young goalkeeper.
