Liverpool have agreed a deal with Sevilla for left-back Alberto Moreno, with the Spaniard being pulled out of the Europa League winners' squad for this evening's UEFA Super Cup against Real Madrid.

The deal is now expected to quickly speed to its conclusion with Liverpool looking to wrap up Moreno's signing before their opening Premier League game against Southampton on Sunday.

According to Seville-based daily Estadio Deportivo, the deal will see Liverpool pay an initial fee of €17m (£13.5m) for Moreno, with a further €3m in potential add-ons to come depending upon the player's performance at Anfield.

Moreno has been linked with Liverpool throughout the summer, but closing a deal proved difficult.

The defender helped Sevilla win the Europa League last season and grabbed a spot in Vicente del Bosque's initial 30-man squad for the World Cup.

However, Moreno did not make the final cut into Del Bosque's 23-man Spain squad.

The defender will be Liverpool's eighth signing of the summer, following Adam Lallana, Divock Origi, Lazar Markovic, Rickie Lambert, Emre Can, Javier Manquillo and Dejan Lovren.
