Giuseppe Bellusci has signed for Leeds United, with the defender arriving at the Yorkshire club from Italian outfit Catania.

The centre-back arrives on a one-year loan, with Leeds announcing: "The club can now confirm that Giuseppe Bellusci has signed a one-year loan deal from Catania, subject to international clearance."

Bellusci's agent, Silvio Pagliari, had earlier this evening posted a photo of his client putting pen to paper at Elland Road.

The defender turned out for Catania in Serie A last term, making 20 appearances for the club, but proving unable to prevent them from being relegated.

Leeds had been on his tail earlier this summer, but ruled out signing him due to financial considerations.

However, following the collapse of a deal to sign Frederik Sorensen on loan from Juventus, they quickly rekindled their interest in Bellusci.

The 24-year-old is now poised to start his English adventure at Elland Road and adds extra competition at the heart of the club's defence.
