Celtic boss Ronny Deila insists that new signing Jason Denayer is a "talent and gifted" player, who can help to make the Bhoys even better.

The 19-year-old headed north to Scotland earlier yesterday on a season-long loan deal between his parent club Manchester City and Celtic.

And the newly appointed manager at Celtic Park is as excited about the move as the player himself, adding that Denayer could compete for a first team place immediately.

Deila even believes that a player of Denayer's quality will contribute to the growth of the team, helping them excel in more than one aspect of the game.

“I have known about Jason for a long time", Deila told his club's official site.

"When I was in Stromsgodset we had good co-operation with Manchester City.

"I've been there many times to watch training and see matches and I have seen him play a lot of times.

"He’s a very talented and gifted player and can make us better. He could compete for a starting place immediately."

Celtic kick off their domestic campaign against St Johnstone this evening.
