Martin Kelly has left Liverpool to join Crystal Palace and saluted the chance to start a new chapter in his career.

The defender had seen both clubs agree a fee for his services earlier this week, with Palace believed to be paying around the £1.5m for the starlet.

And Kelly has welcomed the switch, posting via his Twitter account: "Now to start a new chapter of my football career at Crystal Palace, a great club with unbelievable fans, excited already for the weekend.

"I would like to thank all the managers at Liverpool for making my wish from the age of seven come true, playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world."

Kelly will be aiming to clock up regular first team football at Selhurst Park under Eagles manager Tony Pulis.
