Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp was extremely pleased after his side recovered from their disappointing loss against Liverpool in a friendly at the weekend to defeat Bayern Munich 2-0 in the German Supercup last night.

BVB, who were thrashed 4-0 by Brendan Rodgers’ men at Anfield, took a 23rd-minute lead against the German champions through Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang then doubled his side’s advantage at Signal Iduna Park as Dortmund went on to lift the trophy for a record sixth time.

And Klopp, who felt his side played a “very, very good game” versus Bayern Munich, was impressed with the manner in which Dortmund bounced back from their crunching defeat against Liverpool.

“For the stage in which we find ourselves now, we played a very, very good game”, the manager told the club’s official site.

“We are certainly not undeserved winners and are now record supercup winners. For us it was also about responding to what happened in Liverpool.

“We didn’t like that. It was completely the opposite of the way we want to play football. Today I saw us playing our football again.”

Dortmund, who will face Stuttgarter Kickers in the DFB-Pokal on Saturday, will begin their Bundesliga campaign with a home fixture against Bayer Leverkusen a week later.
