Liverpool legend Steve McManaman has hailed Reds manager Brendan Rodgers’ transfer business this summer.

The Northern Irishman has thus far roped in seven players in the summer, namely Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Emre Can, Lazar Markovic, Divock Origi, Dejan Lovren and Javier Manquillo, while the Merseyside giants are also on the verge of signing Sevilla’s Alberto Moreno.

And McManaman, who is impressed with the mix of proven Premier League stars and exciting foreign talents in Liverpool’s transfer dealings, feels his former side now have a squad capable of competing in all of the four tournaments in the upcoming campaign.

The 42-year-old further added that he is certain about Rodgers nurturing the summer recruits and feels the manager will once again dip into the transfer market before its closure on 31st August.

"Like most Liverpool fans, I've been really impressed by the business they've done", he was quoted as saying by the club’s official site.

"It has made the squad a whole lot stronger and that's vital in order to cope with competing on four fronts.

"The manager had already targeted players and the club went out and got them. He has brought in experienced Premier League players like Lambert, Lallana and Lovren.

"Hopefully Lovren will prove to be a leader at the back. He was under the radar at times at Southampton but now he's at a club where the pressure is really on.

"We've also seen young talent come in from abroad like Markovic and Manquillo. They will need to adapt and settle in but Brendan will nurture them.

"He needed a significant number to bolster the squad and he has done that. He still has two weeks to improve it further."

Liverpool will begin their Premier League campaign with a home game against Southampton on Sunday.
