Bayern Munich technical director Michael Reschke has confirmed an injury to Javi Martinez means the club will look to sign a replacement in the current transfer window.

Martinez suffered a serious knee injury during Bayern Munich's German Supercup defeat to Borussia Dortmund earlier this week and has been ruled out of action for the remainder of the year.

Club coach Pep Guardiola had declared Bayern Munich's transfer window closed before Martinez suffered the blow, but the Bavarians will now return to the market.

"Yes [another buy has been approved]", Reschke told Sport1.

"It is in our hands and we know we must do something.
