Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Angel di Maria is poised to leave the club, with Manchester United expected to be his destination.

Di Maria did not train with the Real Madrid squad today, ahead of their La Liga clash against Cordoba tomorrow, while he did not feature in Friday's Spanish Supercup, being excused by Ancelotti despite being named in the coach's initial 22-man squad.

He is thought to be set to join Manchester United for a fee in excess of €60m, after telling Real Madrid he wants to leave.

And Ancelotti has confirmed Di Maria is heading out of the exit door, going on record as thanking the Portuguese for his efforts, which helped Real Madrid to a tenth European Cup last season.

"He came in, but did not train this morning", Ancelotti told a press conference.

"He is close to concluding a transfer", the Italian continued.

"He came to say goodbye.

"His future is sealed, but it's not official yet.

"I thank him for what he has done for the club. I have personally been involved with Di Maria and he's done a fantastic job with this club.

"It was his decision. The club did its best to convince him to stay."

Di Maria's fellow wantaway star Sami Khedira was present at Real Madrid training earlier today, but is also edging towards the exit door after refusing to extend a contract which expires in 2015 at the Bernabeu.
