Chatter that Angel di Maria is bound for Manchester United has stepped up a notch after the Argentine did not train in Real Madrid's final session before their clash against Cordoba on Monday.

Di Maria and his team-mate Sami Khedira were excused from Real Madrid's 22-man squad, after initially being picked, for the Spanish Supercup on Friday by coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Ancelotti has admitted that the pair are looking to leave Real Madrid this summer.

But while Di Maria was nowhere to be seen at Real Madrid training ahead of the Cordoba game, Khedira did take part in the session, indicating the Argentine winger is closer to the exit door than the German midfielder.

Di Maria is thought to be close to moving to Manchester United, for a fee in excess of €60m.

He has found his place under threat this season following the arrivals of James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos, and now wants to leave.

The 26-year-old has been chased by Paris Saint-Germain, but the French side have struggled to do a deal while remaining within UEFA's financial fair play rules.
