Manchester United have made a fresh attempt to secure the services of Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal before the transfer window slams shut.

Louis van Gaal's men have been chasing the Chile international throughout the summer, but have yet to achieve a breakthrough with Juventus, who only want top dollar for the former Bayer Leverkusen man.

According to French broadcaster Eurosport, the Red Devils have now made a fresh bid for Vidal, offering to send a player in the opposite direction as part of the deal.

The name of the player or the total amount of the bid is not known, however striker Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck are thought to be surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.

Manchester United are aiming to make a squad-strengthening splash before the transfer window closes and are currently working hard to secure the signing of Angel di Maria from Real Madrid.

And the Red Devils also want to usher Vidal through the door before the window closes, along with Di Maria.

Vidal is thought to be keen to join Manchester United, but will not push for the move for fear of upsetting the Juventus faithful.
