Mario Balotelli is expected to be in the stands at the Etihad Stadium this evening when Manchester City host Liverpool in the Premier League.

The striker is on the verge of completing a switch from AC Milan to Liverpool for €20m, after the Reds swooped to take him back to the English top flight.

Balotelli, who turned out for Manchester City from 2010 until 2013, is now set to watch his new club face his former club this evening.

According to Italian news wire ANSA, Balotelli should be in the stands at the Etihad Stadium tonight, as Brendan Rodgers' men line up against the Citizens.

It is not clear whether Balotelli will have put pen to paper on his contract at Liverpool by kick-off.

The 24-year-old is expected to pen an initial three-year deal with Liverpool, which will net him £85,000 per week.

Balotelli made a blistering start to life as an AC Milan player, striking 12 times in his first 13 Serie A games, but soon went off the boil and attracted criticism.

The hitman was also widely slammed for his performance for Italy in the World Cup this summer.
