David Hockaday has insisted that defender Jason Pearce will remain at Leeds United and has waved away interest from Sheffield United in the player.

Pearce has been mooted as being a transfer target for the Blades, but Hockaday is a firm fan of the defender's talents and has insisted in no uncertain terms that he is unavailable for transfer.

"Jason Pearce, I know that there's one or two clubs that have expressed an interest", the Leeds manager explained at a press conference.

"He's not available. He's my captain and he's happy here, and we're happy him being here.

"So that goes in the bin straight away", Hockaday concluded.

Pearce quickly established himself as a fixture in Leeds' defence and Hockaday is a firm fan of the player's abilities.
