MK Dons striker Will Grigg has saluted his side's 4-0 thrashing of Manchester United in the League Cup this evening.

Grigg was the match winner at Stadium MK, striking first in the 25th minute by taking advantage of a sloppy pass from Manchester United defender Jonny Evans.

Grigg then doubled MK Dons' lead in the 63rd minute, before Benik Afobe came off the bench to hit his own brace, bulging the back of the net in the 70th and 84th minutes to complete the rout.

And for Grigg, who is on loan from Brentford, it was fairy tale stuff.

"You know I've got a lot of family that are Man Utd fans and I've dreamt about it [scoring against them] many times", he told Sky Sports post-match.

"The first one came at a good time and the second just gave us that extra push at a vital time."

And Grigg feels the focus may be though on how badly Manchester United played, rather than MK Dons' fine performance, which would be wrong.

"It shows everyone that we're a good side, but we already knew it", he said.

"A lot of the media will be that Man Utd weren't great, but we're a good side."
