The agent of former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes is confident his client will join a big club before Christmas.

Valdes decided to leave Barcelona when his contract expired this summer, but picked up a cruciate knee ligament injury in March and as a result has not been snapped up by any side, remaining a free agent.

His recovery however is on course and his agent believes it is only a matter of time until the big clubs come calling for the 32-year-old.

"He can sign a contract at any time and I am convinced that we will see Valdes at a big team before Christmas", Gines Carvajal told Cadena Ser.

"His rehabilitation is going well, but we do not know when he will be fully recovered", the agent added.

Valdes is a product of Barcelona's youth system and progressed through the ranks to break through into the senior side.

He made over 500 appearances in all competitions for the Blaugrana, picking up six La Liga titles, two Copa del Reys and three Champions Leagues, amidst numerous other honours.
