Ajax manager Frank de Boer has confirmed that Inter Milan were also interested in signing Daley Blind, but the Dutch international’s heart was set on a move to Manchester United.

Manchester United agreed a deal with Ajax yesterday for the Dutch Footballer of the Year and the transfer fee has been confirmed by the Eredivisie outfit as €17.5m.

Blind arrived in Manchester yesterday to undergo a medical and the club are expected to announce his signing later today.

However, De Boer is disappointed by Manchester United’s late bid for the 24-year-old and said the Dutch champions got very little time to think.

"Then you have more time to anticipate”, the former Dutch international was quoted as saying by Voetbal Primeur.
