Premier League outfit Queens Park Rangers have decided to call off their interest in Lokomotiv Moscow midfielder Lassana Diarra, according to the BBC.

QPR boss Harry Redknapp was confident about pulling off the deal and had in fact announced that Diarra had passed his medical and was about to join the club soon.

However, a late hitch between the player and the Russian outfit now means that the deal has fallen through.

Diarra has been a long time admirer of manager Redknapp and was eager to secure a move to England this summer.

The French international joined Lokomotiv Moscow in 2013 after his former club Anzhi Makhachkala were forced to sell, as part of their cost cutting efforts.

During his one-year stint with the club, Diarra played a total of 17 league matches for his side, scoring a single goal.

He also earned 28 caps for the French national side between 2007 and 2010.
