Leeds United caretaker manager Neil Redfearn has compared Giuseppe Bellusci's attitude on the pitch to that of former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane, praising the defender for being a "warrior".

Bellusci produced a wonder-strike from a free-kick last night, scoring Leeds' second goal in a 3-1 come-from-behind win away at Bournemouth in the Championship.

The former Catania defender has never been far from the headlines since signing for Leeds earlier this summer, being sent off on his debut in a 4-1 defeat to Watford and slammed by former boss David Hockaday in the process.

He found himself booked last night, though soon banished memories of the yellow card by blasting home a stunning free-kick.

Redfearn is delighted with the Italian's attitude, believing him to be a natural born winner and also explaining an approach which means a booking or a sending off is never far away is simply a characteristic of his game.

"Giuseppe showed great technique to get the ball up and over the wall like he did to put it in the top corner", Redfearn told LUTV.

"He is a tough cookie and he doesn’t give up; he is a warrior and a battler.

"He plays a little bit close to the edge, but there are a lot of top players that have been like that.

"Roy Keane was a little bit like that, not far off being a booking or a sending off. But those players make you winners."

Bellusci will be hoping to help Leeds to another win this coming weekend when local rivals Huddersfield Town visit Elland Road.
