Pep Guardiola has warned Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal off even thinking about making bids for any of his Bayern Munich players.

Van Gaal spent over £150m on new recruits at Old Trafford this summer and has been given the green light to carry on spending when the transfer window opens again in January.

For Guardiola, that is good news for Van Gaal, but does not give him cause to worry about losing star performers at the Allianz Arena, as Bayern Munich are wealthy enough to resist any approaches from the Red Devils.

"They don't have enough money", Guardiola said at a press conference, when asked about Manchester United being linked with Arjen Robben, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Thomas Muller.

"I've seen that they have spent a lot. That's good for my friend Louis."

Guardiola accepts that clubs targeting other clubs' players is part and parcel of the game. The Spaniard is clear though that unless a player is desperate to leave Bayern Munich, the German giants can resist offers.

"Every club wants players from other clubs", he said.

"After that it depends on the player.

"If he wants to play, he'll play. If he wants to stay, he'll stay.

"Manchester want this type of player."
