Mauricio Pochettino believes that Tottenham Hotspur were too slow yesterday to create anything against West Brom.

A James Morrison goal in the 74th minute settled the match in favour of the Baggies against Spurs at White Hart Lane.

It was West Brom’s first win of the season and they moved off the bottom of the table to 16th in the league.

Tottenham on the other hand are disappointed with the result and moved down to ninth in the league table after the defeat.

Pochettino feels that Spurs could not pick up the tempo of the game and were too slow to pose any uncomfortable questions for the West Brom defence.

He admits that Spurs had a bad day at the office, but believes they need to be quicker on the ball to break down dogged teams.

"The beginning of the game was wrong”, the Spurs manager was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"We were very slow, we moved the ball very slow, there was a slow tempo. In football, you need to play quick.

"The way that we played, I think was wrong because we played very, very slow from the beginning.

"I am angry or disappointed – I don't know the best word to show my feelings. We had a bad day."

Tottenham will take on Arsenal in this season’s first north London derby at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
