Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal does not want the club's players to be shy with their opinions, Robin van Persie has revealed.

Questioning managerial decisions is often a feature of football in Van Gaal's native Netherlands, with players unafraid of speaking their mind to the man in charge.

And the Dutchman wants to introduce some of that culture into the dressing room at Old Trafford, making sure every player has the chance to air their views as he pushes the club forward.

"Van Gaal wants players to speak up during discussions", Van Persie was quoted as saying by Soccer News.

"That is a little bit Dutch, where everyone talks about the project."

Van Persie admits that Van Gaal is demanding as a manager, but believes his strict standards can only benefit the Manchester United players.

"He is very demanding, in a good way", the striker explained.

"You need to be focused every day in training and when there are team-talks."
