Liverpool left-back Jose Enrique has poured praise on the club’s summer signing Javier Manquillo.

Manquillo, who joined the Reds from La Liga champions Atletico Madrid on a two-year loan deal in August, has already impressed during his short spell at Anfield.

The 20-year-old has thus far made nine appearances in all competitions for his new employers, providing one assist.

And Enrique feels the youngster, who played just six games for Atletico Madrid last season, has done a tremendous job in adjusting himself to the Premier League.

The Spaniard also lauded his compatriot’s performance at either end of the pitch, while also revealing that he is on fine terms with the starlet.

"Manquillo for me has done really, really well", Enrique explained to Liverpool’s official site.

"It's difficult for a young guy who didn't play too much in the first division in Spain to come to a completely different league.

"He's doing really well. He's doing his job. Defensively he's really strong and going forward he can cross really well.

“As a person, he's fantastic – he's really, really funny. I get on really well with him."

Manquillo, who made a total of 16 appearances for Atletico Madrid, is yet to earn a senior cap for Spain, but has represented the nation at various youth levels.
