Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has insisted that he is under no added pressure ahead of his side’s crucial Champions League fixture against Bayern Munich tonight.

The Citizens, who lost 2-1 to CSKA Moscow in their last Champions League outing earlier in the month, currently occupy last spot in Group E with just two points from four games.

Hence, the English champions desperately need all the three points against Bayern Munich to have any chance of progressing to the knockout round of the continental competition.

And Pellegrini explained that he is hopeful about his side claiming a positive result against the Bavarians at the Etihad Stadium, in view of staying alive in the tournament.

“I don't feel there is any extra pressure”, he told UEFA’s official site.

“It's important for this club to do well in Europe; it's one of our targets, to improve every year.

“[Tuesday] we will see the team fighting to the end to try and continue in the Champions League and I hope we will do it.

“I'm sure the team, plus myself, have a lot of faith that we can do it. I hope we will continue to have a chance until the last game.”

Manchester City lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich in the corresponding fixture at the Allianz Arena in September, courtesy of a last gasp Jerome Boateng strike.
