Kristoffer Peterson was delighted to hit the back of the net for FC Utrecht in the Eredivisie today, all the more so since his good friend John Guidetti was watching on from the stands.

Peterson played for Liverpool at the time his fellow Swede turned out for Manchester City and the pair spent much time together in the north west of England.

The winger joined Utrecht from Liverpool on a four-year deal this summer, while Guidetti headed to Scotland for a season-long loan with Celtic.

The pair were reunited today, albeit only Peterson played, scoring in Utrecht's 4-2 home defeat to Heracles.

"It was a good goal. But it wasn't related to the presence of John", Peterson told FOX Sports, denying he turned on the style for his friend.

"He came over this morning.

"I'm glad I could score with John in the stands.

"It was also good for the fans. But we lost, so it doesn't matter that much to all of them", he added.

Peterson's step-father and Guidetti's father were friends in the Swedish army, something which helped to cement the friendship between the two players.

"Then John and I were friends. We are very, very good mates.

"When I lived in Liverpool, he played in Manchester. We spent a lot of time together."
