Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti expects injured midfielder Luka Modric to start training next month.

Modric suffered a tear of the left proximal rectus femoris tendon during Croatia’s 1-1 draw against Italy in November and is expected to be out of action until February.

The former Tottenham midfielder has opted for conservative treatment rather than going for surgery, which could have extended his rehabilitation period.

Ancelotti is so far happy with the progress the midfielder is making at the moment and expects him to start training by the middle of next month.

“Until now he’s been having physiotherapy”, Ancelotti was quoted as saying by AS.
