Inter Milan boss Roberto Mancini believes that a third place finish is still possible for his team, but in order to do that his players need to have confidence in their own ability.

The Nerazzurri are currently placed eleventh in the league table and have managed only 21 points from 16 matches played so far this season.

And as they go into the brief winter break prior to their visit to Juventus on 6th January, Mancini insists that his team are on the right track as they look for a quick recovery from their poor run.

"There’s work to do, but we’re on the right track", Mancini told his club's official site.

Speaking about an ambitious third place finish, the former Manchester City manager said that his players need to believe that such a thing is possible in order to make it possible.

"Third place? First of all, we need to believe we can achieve that, otherwise there’s simply no point.

"It’ll be difficult, but you always need to have confidence in your own ability.

"It’s up to us to go for it, both in Serie A and the Europa League."
