Saidy Janko was delighted with his performance in Bolton Wanderers’ 3-1 win over Fulham at the Macron Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Janko joined the Trotters on a loan deal until the end of the season from Manchester United earlier this month and marked his debut for his new club with a scintillating performance against the Cottagers.

He provided the assist for Eidur Gudjohnsen’s goal just before the break and fired Bolton into a lead in the 80th minute with a 25-yard stunner.

Janko modestly termed his long range screamer a ‘lucky goal’ and credited Gudjohnsen for making the most of a ‘whipped’ in cross into the penalty box for the former Chelsea’s striker’s goal.

“I am very pleased that I could score on my debut”, 19-year-old told the club’s official site.

“My first touch was not ideal so I closed my eyes and decided to hit it and it went in. It was a lucky goal.

“For Eidur’s goal I just whipped the ball in and he did the rest. His first touch was unbelievable. You see his quality and he just had to flick it in so credit to him I think.”

The Swiss Under-21 international, who is a highly-rated youngster at Old Trafford, is hoping to take his game to the next level with the Trotters and make the most of the opportunities he will get at the club before returning to Manchester United in the summer.

“Hopefully I can learn and keep on improving playing with players of this calibre during my time here.

“I will just try to do my best and bring my style of play to the game.

"Hopefully I can fit in well here and my time with Bolton can be successful.”
