Manchester City forward Edin Dzeko admits that injuries have held him back this season and after making a full recovery he is raring to make up for them as the season approaches its business end.
After playing a stellar role in Manchester City’s Premier League win last season, Dzeko’s first team appearances have been curtailed this campaign. He has made 15 appearances so far, of which only seven have come as a starter.
Talking to the club website, the Bosnian said that he expected this season to be a continuation of the last campaign, but things have not gone according to plan.
“I have missed a lot of games this season and the frustrating thing has been that I ended last year strongly and was determined that this season was going to be even better.”
The 28-year-old featured in all but one of the Citizens’ first ten Premier League games this season, but injuries have plagued him since.

“I felt I started this campaign really well and even if the goals weren’t coming, I felt good and was very happy with my game, but the injuries held me back.”
However, looking ahead to the business end of the season Dzeko is confident that he will get his season back on track by helping Manuel Pellegrini’s team in their remaining matches.
He added that with Manchester City trailing Premier League leaders Chelsea by seven points and a tough tie against Barcelona in their Champions League round of 16 ahead, the Citizens can’t afford any lapses and need to get back in top form soon.
“The good thing is we still have three months of the current campaign to go and we are still fighting for the Premier League and the Champions League and hopefully I can get back to my best form as quickly as possible because there is no time to waste.”
Dzeko will look to add to his goal tally when Manchester City face Newcastle United in their next Premier League fixture on 21st February.
