Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti was pleased with his side’s performance against Schalke in Gelsenkirchen last night and was also happy to see Cristiano Ronaldo back among the goals.
Goals from Ronaldo and Marcelo helped the European champions to register a comfortable 2-0 win over Schalke at the Veltins-Arena in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie.
With two away goals in the bag, Real Madrid are now well-placed to go through to the quarter-finals of the competition ahead of the next leg at the Bernabeu next month.
Ancelotti was pleased with his side’s performance last night against Roberto Di Matteo’s men and feels that they never lost control of the match after scoring the first goal in the 26th minute through a Ronaldo header.
“My team put in a good performance today”, Ancelotti told UEFA.
