Leeds United head coach Neil Redfearn feels himself and his assistant Steve Thompson have done enough to still be in charge of the Whites next term and has revealed praise from Chris Hughton.

No official announcement has been made over whether Redfearn will still be head coach for next term and the Whites sacked two managers prior to his appointment, showing first David Hockaday and then Darko Milanic the door.

Redfearn was appointed in November, with his first game in charge a 3-1 defeat away at Cardiff City.

However, the 49-year-old has led Leeds to a good recent run of form and the Whites now sit ten points clear of the Championship relegation zone and in 14th spot.

Redfearn does not know for certain he will be in charge at Elland Road next term, but he feels he has done enough to warrant the opportunity.

"We've been talking about players for next season, who we're going to keep and planning for pre-season, but nothing official has been announced", he told a press conference.

"I get on with it as I'm told to get on with it.

"I am hoping so [that I am in charge]. I think I've done enough if I'm honest. But there's still a long way to go and I don't want to tempt fate and preempt anything before the end of the season with the games coming up.

"I've got the backing of the players, they love what they are doing and have a clear sight as to where they are going."

The Leeds boss also explained that Brighton manager Hughton saluted himself and Thompson for the impact they have had, when the Whites lost to the Seagulls earlier this week.

And for Redfearn, the compliment was nice to hear.

"We've done well and it hasn't gone unnoticed. We've turned it round.

"I spoke to Chris Hughton the other night at Brighton and he was very complimentary about what we've done and the fact we've got the club in a better position.

"And the results that we've got we've done it the right way where everything has been close, we've nicked results and kept it tight at the back.

"And he was good to be fair to him.

"We know what we're doing. It isn't as if we don't know what we're doing."

The Leeds boss however is loath to put pressure on the club and feels it is only right they take their time before confirming next season's manager.

"With regards to the decision that is down to the club and they will make their decision when they feel the time is right."
