Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Miguel Angel Moya has lamented their loss to Bayer Leverkusen last night, but he believes that Los Rojiblancos can win the tie at the Vicente Calderon.
Diego Simeone’s side played Bayer Leverkusen in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie at the BayArena yesterday where a 57th minute strike from Hakan Calhanoglu sealed the match in favour of the hosts.
The result means last year’s beaten finalists in the Champions League will have to overturn the one goal deficit in order to prolong their stay in Europe’s elite competition.
Moya feels that the result is a poor one for his team, but takes heart from the fact that it could have been far worse especially after they went a man down in the 76th minute following the dismissal of Tiago after two bookable offences.
“It could have been worse”, Moya was quoted as saying by AS.

“We didn’t plan on this scoreline, but the way the game panned out, with the red card, it was important to keep things tight.”
However, the goalkeeper believes that the Germans have a slender advantage heading into the return leg and the reigning Spanish champions have it in them to seal their passage to the round of 16.
“1-0 is a very narrow score line but it’s achievable to turn the tie around.
“We’ll know what to expect in the return leg and I’d say the tie is very much alive.”
The second leg of their tie is scheduled to be played at the Vicente Calderon on 17th March.
