Winston Reid has ended speculation over a move away from West Ham by penning a six-and-a-half-year contract to cement his stay at the Hammers.
The New Zealand international defender had been set to be out of contract at the end of the season, something which fuelled rumours of a move elsewhere and left boss Sam Allardyce openly considering his departure.
Reid was linked with both Arsenal and Manchester United, but has now been convinced to continue his career at Upton Park, much to the delight of West Ham.
"It’s one of those things that took a bit of time, but we got there in the end and I’m very happy to be here for the next part of my career. I’m looking forward to it", the defender explained to West Ham's official site, welcoming his new deal and crediting joint-chairman David Sullivan for helping him decide to stay.
"At the end of the day, for myself I feel comfortable here.

"I was speaking with the joint-chairman David Sullivan and everybody and felt like I was valued here.
"He was clearly very committed to getting the deal done and keeping me at the club, so I’d like to thank him for that and I’m delighted to sign for the next six years."
West Ham snapped up Reid in the summer of 2010 following the defender's assured performances at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa with New Zealand.
In total the centre-back has clocked up over 130 appearances for West Ham since making his debut for the club.
