Leeds United boss Neil Redfearn has hailed his side for grinding out a 1-0 win on what he feels was an appalling pitch at Wigan Athletic today.
The game was lively from the off at the DW Stadium, with both sides enjoying goalscoring chances and the goalkeepers at each end in good form.
Wigan shaded the first half in terms of chances, but neither side could find a breakthrough and the game was locked at 0-0 at the break.
A goal did come after the break through, with Alex Mowatt coming up trumps for the visitors, striking a superb shot in the 51st minute when flew into the top left hand corner of the goal.
Leeds were 1-0 up and Wigan intensified their efforts to get back into the match.

The Latics put the Whites under the cosh, enjoying a number of corners and genuine pressure.
But Leeds held firm, keeping Wigan at bay to see out the match and claim a vital 1-0 win which all but ends any fears of being sucked back into the relegation battle in the Championship.
Redfearn was delighted with the win, even if the game had been far from a classic and the quality of the football hindered by the pitch.
Indeed, the head coach claims to not be bothered about the fact it was tough to play football, with the three points the most important thing.
"It wasn't a great game today, the pitch made it so, but we're not bothered, we've come to get the points and that's what we've done", he told BBC Radio Leeds.
"It was difficult to play football on that surface, but I thought we played well at times.
"I thought both sides to be fair played some half decent stuff, but you had to play the conditions, which led to it being that sort of game."
And Redfearn also took his time to salute a run which has seen Leeds win seven of their last ten games.
"It's a tremendous achievement from where we were and it's great credit to everybody. They have all pulled together, been strong in adversity and that's what successful sides are made of."
