David de Gea is proud to be a Manchester United player after the Red Devils put Manchester City to the sword earlier today, running out 4-2 winners at Old Trafford.

Manchester United went into the derby clash sitting one place and one point above their local rivals. But 90 minutes later the gap had swelled to four points.

Goals from Ashley Young, Marouane Fellaini, Juan Mata and Chris Smalling proved too much for the Citizens to overcome and they slipped to their first defeat at Old Trafford in their last four visits.

De Gea was delighted with the loud and passionate atmosphere created by the club's fans, who celebrated long and hard after the derby win.

And he took to Twitter to write: "Proud to be a Red, proud of these fans! Keep on!"
