Former Liverpool striker Karl-Heinz Riedle believes that Jurgen Klopp’s departure from Borussia Dortmund is akin to Sir Alex Ferguson leaving Manchester United.
Klopp announced yesterday that he will be leaving Signal Iduna Park at the conclusion of the current season thereby bringing an end to his seven-year reign at the Ruhr outfit.
During his time at the club, Klopp won the Black and Yellows consecutive league titles in 2011 and 2012, and the German Cup in 2012. He also guided them to the final of the Champions League in the 2012/13 season where they eventually finished as runners-up to Bayern Munich.
The 47-year-old oversaw one of the most successful eras in the history of BVB.
And Riedle, who played for Borussia Dortmund from 1993 until 1997, has compared Klopp’s departure from the club to that of Ferguson leaving Manchester United at the end of the 2012/13 season.

“There is an intense relationship between him and the club”, Riedle told BBC Sportsworld.
“Maybe you could compare it to Manchester United and Sir Alex Ferguson when he left.”
Klopp has not revealed the next destination in his managerial career and has been linked as a replacement for Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool.
