Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has criticised Javier Hernandez for his celebration after scoring the winning goal for Real Madrid against Atletico Madrid last night.

Hernandez, currently on a season-long loan at the Santiago Bernabeu from Manchester United, scored the only goal of the second leg of Real Madrid’s quarter-final tie against Atletico Madrid last night in the 88th minute to secure Los Blancos’ progress to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

The goal was assisted by Cristiano Ronaldo, who had exchanged passes with James Rodriguez before setting up the Mexico international for the goal.

Henry has not taken kindly to Hernandez’ celebration after he scored the winner as he didn’t turn around to acknowledge the Portuguese for the effort that he had put in to create the goalscoring opportunity.

“That’s Ronaldo’s goal”, the Frenchman said as a pundit on Sky Sports.

“At that particular moment he couldn’t shoot, so he didn’t take the risk of doing something stupid and silly with it.

“He saw a guy in a better position, which Chicharito was, and he gave him the ball.

"What I don’t like is Chicharito seems like he’s won the World Cup with that.

“It’s a tap-in.

“Turn around and celebrate with Ronaldo.

“Even the camera knew – the camera is on Ronaldo for a reason.”

Hernandez has struggled for regular playing time at Real Madrid as Carlo Ancelotti has preferred Karim Benzema. An injury forced the Italian to play the 26-year-old in place of the Frenchman and Henry doubts that the Mexican willbe at the club next season.

"I don't know about his future there. To be fair to him he doesn't usually play.

"Tonight was his opportunity and we don't even know if he's going to play after that.”
