Former Leeds United star Max Gradel has revealed a strong desire to move back to England, as he looks to fulfil his ambitions.

Gradel currently turns out in France for Saint-Etienne, where he has been in superb form this season, scoring 15 goals in Ligue 1, along with providing his team-mates with four assists.

Saint-Etienne currently sit fifth in the French top flight, but Gradel is not sure to continue with Les Verts and wants to sit down and talk with the club to assess his future.

The ex-Leeds man told L'Equipe: "I'll sit down at the table with Saint-Etienne's directors and talk and see what their larger ambitions are. Then I will make a decision.

"I am a competitor. I want to go as high as possible", Gradel added.

And that could involve a return to England, a country with whose football he is still in love.

"This is my second country", the 27-year-old explained.

"England welcomed me, adopted me, trusted me and allowed me to fulfil my dream of becoming a professional footballer.

"This country is the one which I prefer in my heart. That's not a secret."

Gradel, who was given his break in the professional game by Leicester City, left Leeds to join Saint-Etienne in 2011, and remains a popular figure at Elland Road.

The winger, who can also play as a forward, has 41 caps for the Ivory Coast at international level to his name.
