Everton are considering making a bid for Cagliari centre half Davide Astori this summer, according to Italian daily Tuttosport.

Astori made 30 appearances during his loan spell at Roma who finished runners’-up to Juventus in Serie A last season.

However, his performances were not considered up to the mark for Roma to make the deal permanent this summer and he is set to return to Cagliari.

Despite Roma opting against signing him on a permanent basis, he did enough to attract interest from Schalke and there is talk that Premier League outfit Sunderland are also keen.

However, the Black Cats will face stiff competition from another English side for the 28-year-old Italian as according to Tuttosport, Everton are also pondering over making a move for him.
