Young Arsenal defender-cum-midfielder Isaac Hayden has linked up with Championship side Hull City on a season-long loan deal and is hoping to be playing his football in midfield at the KC Stadium.

Hayden, who has captained Arsenal's Under-21 team, is relishing the chance to clock up regular first team football under Steve Bruce as he looks to build experience.

Indeed, the Arsenal starlet believes the Under-21 Premier League is not enough to push his development forward, with the Championship a much more testing arena.

He told Hull's official site: "I didn’t get to play in too many games last season due to injury and playing Under-21s football at my age isn’t enough for my development."

Hayden is hoping to be given a chance to play in midfield, his preferred position, but stressed he is ready to turn out wherever needed for the Tigers.

"My preferred role is in centre midfield", Hayden said.

"But, in saying that, I’m a young player looking to gain experience and I’m happy to play anywhere in order to get that.

"If the gaffer thinks I’m better suited to another position or can help the team out in a certain role, then I’m more than willing to do that."

The young Arsenal player is set to train with his Hull team-mates for the first time tomorrow as he bids to make an impression on boss Bruce and put himself at the front of the queue to be selected against Huddersfield in the Tigers' opening Championship game.
