Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that he has set no timeline on striker Daniel Sturridge's return to action as the England international continues with his rehabilitation process.

The 25-year-old has been out of action since April and has only returned to training following an extended break in the United States where he spent time in order to build up his fitness level.

Rodgers though insists that he will give his player much needed time which is necessary for any player who is returning from such a prolonged absence.

“There’s no timeline on Daniel. He has obviously been away working in America", Rodgers told his club's official website.

“He has come back and it’s just about him working hard now to get somewhere near the level of the group. There’s no time on it."

Rodgers also took time to reveal that Sturridge has been looking good in training and is excited and happy to be back training among his team-mates.

However, the need of the hour, according to the manager, is to take the issue of a return on a week by week basis rather than putting any additional pressure on the player.

“He came back and looks well – he’s really excited and happy to be back among his team-mates.

"We’ll just have to take that week on week, rather than put any sort of pressure on a time for him.”

During his over two year stay at Anfield, Sturridge has managed a total of 67 appearances for the Reds, having scored a total of 41 goals and has also provided his team-mates with 16 assists.
